Parchment Cocoon Table Lamp, 1960s

Parchment Cocoon Table Lamp, 1960s

A par of sculptural table lamp in parchment cocoon technique, produced during the 1960s. The spherical shade is formed in goatskin parchment, stretched and layered to create a soft, organic surface with visible texture and natural variation.

The light diffuses evenly through the material, giving a warm and calm glow. The structure of the parchment creates subtle shadows and depth, making the lamp feel alive when lit.

The base is minimal and balanced. A clean, white stem and circular foot that support the volume of the shade without competing with it. The contrast between the structured base and the organic sphere creates a clear and refined composition.

This type of cocoon construction became known for its experimental approach to light and material during the mid-century period. A focus on tactility, softness, and atmosphere rather than sharp edges.

A quiet statement piece. Works well in both minimal and layered interiors.
